Clays come from the decomposition of rocks by erosion. They are differentiated by the type of rock they come from, the climate or the topography of the soil. They are classified according to their chemical structure (illite, kaolinite, montmorillonite, etc.) and their colour.
White clay, of the kaolinite type, comes from quarries in Brittany. It is composed mainly of aluminium and silicon. This kaolinite-type clay has a white colour because it is strongly leached out by rainwater, which eliminate some of its pigments. White clay is perfect for sensitive skin. It can also constitute a mineral filler in natural makeup products for example.
