Originated from the Indian subcontinent, Basmati rice is one of the most appreciated rice in the world. Basmati rice is the predominant type of rice used in Indian cooking, and is also popular throughout Pakistan, parts of the Middle East, and in some Southeast Asian cuisines, particularly in Thailand and Malaysia. The Hindi word “basmati” translates to fragrant and describes the specific smell of the rice.
The rice is rich in amino-acids, vitamins (especially B type), starch and flavonoids. These molecules are part of the NMF (Natural Moisturising Factors) family. They have the property to keep hold of water molecules, thereby contributing to the constant moisturisation of the skin and hair.
