The Mexican shrub mimosa tenuiflora known locally as Tepescohuite shrub is primarily cultivated in the Cintalpa valley in Chiapas state, Mexico.
The healers among the Maya Indians in the 10th century, were already aware of its regenerating virtues and applied it to wounds and burns using its grated bark to calm pains and heal the epidermis rapidly.
Through bacteriostatic, astringent and skin protection properties mimosa also offers numerous possibilities for use in cosmetics.
Many scientific studies have shown that the mimosa extract improves circulation, stimulates cell division and strengthens the capillaries. It also assists in preventing allergies and healing wounds. It encourages epithelialisation and acts as an astringent.
